The Auto Kjeldahl Unit is used to determine the quantity of total nitrogen, ammonia and protein in soil, plant and water samples. It is mainly used to research the nitrogen cycle, allocation and flow between ecological process and biogeochemistry cycle (such as nitrogen transformation between the plants and the soils, nitrogen migration and behavior of the soil-water system, and nitrogen allocation during plants growth).
