Prof. Zhang Jiaolin, CPC secretary and deputy director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), headed up a delegation to Myanmar in mid June. The visit was to enhance cooperation in biodiversity conservation and talent cultivation.

Zhang Jiaolin held a talk with Mr. U Kyaw Ze Ya, acting director general of the Myanmar Forest Department. The two sides exchanged views on joint scientific expeditions, laboratory infrastructure development, and academic exchange programs, seeking to deepen practical collaboration in tropical biodiversity studies.

XTBG delegation visited the Kandawgyi National Botanical Garden, the forest research plots of the Forest Research Institute, and the National Medicinal Plant Garden.

They visited the Myanmar office of the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI) to check the progress of active research projects. Related personnel completed comprehensive inventory verification and asset check of the Myanmar office’s fixed assets.
