Ailaoshan Subtropical Forest Ecological Station of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) has been recently granted a computer software copyright certificate for its newly developed program named “Automatic processing program for manually observed meteorological data V1.0”. The certificate was issued by the National Copyright Administration of China, with XTBG listed as the copyright holder.

Meteorological monitoring is a key observational component for ecological stations of the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN). Previously, the process of submitting meteorological data of Ailaoshan station is complex and prone to errors, including manual correction, calculation, format entry, ,etc.

To make the process more accurate and easier, the staff developed the automatic processing program based on their daily workflow. The program runs in Excel using VBA language and can automatically perform monthly correction, organization, calculation, and logical validation of manually observed meteorological data. It then exports the meteorological reports in the require.

“The application of this program significantly improves the efficiency of manual meteorological data processing and report generation, providing reliable technical support for the long-term provision of high-quality baseline meteorological observations at the ecological station.d standard format,” said a staff member of the ecological station.
