A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) of Thailand on February 5. As representatives of the two sides, XTBG deputy director Fan Zexin and SWU president Cholvit Jearajit signed the MoU. According to the MoU, the two sides will collaborate in areas such as ecology and biodiversity, environment and climate change, plant physiology and adaptation mechanisms, and sustainable utilization of plant resources. Specific collaborative activities will include joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, organization of academic conferences, and field-based training programs. They will also jointly offer training for researchers and technical personnel across Southeast Asia, aiming to enhance regional scientific capabilities. During their visit, the SWU delegation also toured XTBG’s research facilities and observed its long-term forest ecosystem monitoring and talent development initiatives. The foundation for this agreement was laid during a visit by an XTBG delegation to SWU in September 2025, where both sides engaged in practical discussions on potential collaboration.
