Prof. Xing Yaowu, director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) , headed up a 12-person delegation to Thailand to enhance scientific cooperation from August 31 to September 8. The visit aimed to strengthen sustainable collaboration from strategic planning to operational platforms, and from research projects to talent development.
The delegation firstly reviewed the work progress of the Thailand Office of the Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI) and outlined key tasks for the ext phase.
They then visited several partner institutions, including Kasetsart University, the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), Srinakharinwirot University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology, and Mahidol University. They held discussions with Thai partners on scientific collaboration, joint graduate training, curriculum development, and shared use of research platforms.
XTBG proposed further advancing practical cooperation in ecological monitoring, data sharing, and academic exchanges based on its existing long-term forest dynamics plots and ecological observation networks. Thai partners expressed strong support, willing to provide full assistance for XTBG’s research activities in Thailand through joint project applications, shared postgraduate training mechanisms, and regular academic exchanges.
