On May 22, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO) solidified their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to drive innovation in agricultural technology, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable bioresource development. Prof. Xing Yaowu, director of XTBG, and Dr. Ivar Horneland Kristensen, director general of NIBIO, both showed their mutual recognition of long-standing collaboration and shared aspirations to deepen ties in cutting-edge scientific fields. Both institutions outlined their strategic priorities and research focuses, engaging in in-depth discussions on agricultural innovation, biodiversity protection, climate change impact assessment, and sustainable utilization of biological resources. They reached common concern on joint research initiatives, talent exchanges, and interdisciplinary cooperation. The two sides will cooperate in studies of agricultural food security, ecosystem modeling, environmental and plant health, and circular economy. They will also implement scientist exchange programs, co-host international academic conferences, and jointly address global challenges in agriculture and ecology.
