The 15th International Palynological Congress (IPC-XV 2024) and the 11th International Organisation of Palaeobotany Conference (IOPC-XI 2024) was held in Prague, hosted by Czech palynologists and palaeobotanists,on 27–31 May 2024. Representatives from 46 countries worldwide attended the conference. 6 researchers including Zhou Zhekun and Li Shufeng from Paleoecology Research Team of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG)participated in the conference and presented their research progress. The conference was set up with 92 thematic discussions, covering paleobotany and palynology as well as related disciplines. XTBG researchers gave oral presentations on topics such as "Evolution of Plant Diversity in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau under the Background of Paleoenvironmental Changes", "Natural Experiment: Ice Age-Interglacial Cycle", and "Global Perspective on the Evolutionary Origin of Mediterranean-type Ecosystems". They showcased the group's recent research achievements in paleobotany and palynology in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Southwest-South China Peninsula region. During the conference, the International Organization of Palaeobotany awarded Prof. Zhou Zhekun with the title of Honorary Member (IOP Honorary Membership). Since 2009, the world community of palynologists and palaeobotanists has been meeting every four years to discuss the latest research, and to share experience. This time, however, the 15th International Palynological Congress (IPC-XV 2024) and the 11th International Organisation of Palaeobotany Conference (IOPC-XI 2024) took place after an eight-year interval due to the world pandemic. Each congress features renowned paleontologists from various countries, making it an ideal platform for exchanging ideas, absorbing advanced scientific research concepts, showcasing research achievements, and enhancing international visibility.
