To celebrate the 24th International Day for Biodiversity (IDB), Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) held an event named Director and experts guide you through the garden on IDB. Prof. Yang Yongping, director of XTBG, and other 14 experts were tour guides on that day.

The director and experts led tourist to knowing flowers and trees in the botanical garden and made interpretation in specialized areas. They vividly introduced the rich biodiversity of tropical regions in conjunction with the biodiversity research and conservation work carried out by the XTBG, conveying its importance in nature and human society. At the two fixed-point explanation sites, experts began with their own research fields, using interesting stories to explain the survival wisdom of plants.

The event was also live-streamed on XTBGs WeChat video account, attracting a total of 6541 viewers, allowing more audiences to appreciate the beauty of biodiversity from afar.

The theme of International Day for Biodiversity 2024 is Be part of the plan, which is a call to action for all stakeholders to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity by supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, also referred to as the The Biodiversity Plan.

The event of this kind was launched in XTBG annually since 2009. Its aim is to showcase the achievements in the field of biodiversity conservation and to raise public awareness about biodiversity protection. Since its inception, this event has been warmly received and highly praised by tourists, enhancing the social influence of XTBG and further promoting the mainstreaming of biodiversity conservation.
