A meeting with the theme of “Accelerate the building of biodiversity monitoring and full-cover conservation system in Yunnan” was held at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on November 21. The meeting was co-organized by XTBG and Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve Administration, which was attended by over 100 representatives from 14 nature reserves and 1 national park in Yunnan Province. Prof. Yang Yongping and Mr. Yang Yun made opening remarks. Over the past 17 years, the scientific and technological cooperation between XTBG and the national nature reserves has been fruitful. This is the 18th time that the joint annual meeting was held. At the scientific meeting, participating researchers and experts talked about Asian elephant protection, collection, in situ and ex situ conservation of Dipterocarpaceae plants, an important rare and endangered plant family, building of full-cover biodiversity monitoring system, and future prospects of nature reserves, etc. Afterwards, the participants had deep discussion on monitoring system construction, in situ, ex situ, and reintroduction of plants. They reviewed progress in 2023 and determined cooperation in 2024. XTBG signed meeting minutes with 13 nature reserve agencies.
