Yin Hejun, the vice president and the deputy secretary of party committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), investigated Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on May 6-7. He a meeting with the leading group, the key members on scientific research and management of XTBG.  

Yin Hejun listened to work report on development of XTBG over past years, learned about the figures and facts of the development of the garden, the construction of research platforms, etc. He also visited the history museum of XTBG, learning the spirit of late botanist Cai Xitao, etc. 

Yin acknowledged the achievements made by XTBG. He pointed out that we should start from the national strategic needs, focus on the major mission and actively carry out scientific research. He encouraged XTBG to contribute more to the development, utilization and conservation of tropical plant resources.
