Prof. Yang Yongping, director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), headed up a 9-person delegation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos during October 30- November 4. The visit is mainly for further promoting cooperation between XTBG and Lao PDR, especially for implementing collaboration between the Biotechnology and Ecology Institute (BEI) of Laos and Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI). 

XTBG delegation visited the Biotechnology and Ecology Institute (BEI), Chinese Embassy in Laos, Branch Company of Yunnan State Farms Group in Laos, and others.  

The fourth joint scientific expedition in northern Laos was launched at the same time, aiming to contribute to China-Laos transboundary biodiversity conservation, establishment of national park in Laos, and biological resources utilization. 

A team of 30 researchers will conduct a one-month field investigation in the three provinces in norther Laos. The team members are from Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute (SEABRI), Biotechnology and Ecology Institute (BEI), departments of Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos, and nature reserve administrations.
