The Chinese Paintings of Tropical Rainforest: the 4th Exhibition was opened in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on September 26. This is the fourth time of the “Where art meets science” event.
XTBG has become a tropical paradise not only for biological studies but also for Chinese flower-and-bird paintings. Every year, hundreds of artists come to draw from nature in XTBG,and then bring forth their flower-and-bird works, which has brought great influence to the art theme of Xishuangbanna Tropical Rainforest.
“This exhibition brings interlinks to art, science and other culture forms. It resembles the interrelationships and mutual networks of all tropical rainforest organisms on this island of XTBG. It highlights rich biodiversity of our garden,” said Prof. YANG Yongping, director of XTBG.
The 4th exhibition showcases 83 artworks aligned with tropical rainforest science, landscapes or natural resources in Xishuangbanna. The star artworks include paintings of torch ginger (Etlingera elatior), Strongylodon macrobotrys, Dombeya wallichii, Spathodea campanulata, palms, peacocks, and sun birds, etc.
The “Where art meets science” event is held biennially. It will last from September 26, 2022 to February 6, 2023. Come and feast your eyes with the fine paintings of tropical rainforest in Xishuangbanna.
