The 2021 Annual Conference of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) took place on December 2-3. Principal investigators, senior researchers, early-career researchers and students gathered together to collaborate and learn from each other through oral presentations, poster presentations, networking opportunities, inspiring plenary speeches, and others.

Prof. Yang Yongping, director of XTBG, reviewed work progress in the year. He emphasized that all people should “attend to easy tasks with great care to avoid future disasters and respect small flaws to prevent catastrophe”.

On the first day, a lecture by CAS academician Cao Xiaofeng was brought online to all participants, leading them to understanding “Transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of plant developmental plasticity for adaptation”.

On behalf of the two key laboratories and conservation center respectively, Prof. Peng Yanqiong, Prof. Liang Gang, and Prof. Ahimsa Campos Arceiz made plenary presentations.

Three plenary presentations, 36 oral presentations by principal investigators, and 31 oral presentations by early-career researchers, and 22 posters made the annual meeting meaningful and attractive. The over 200 participants learned a lot from the presentations and discussions.

This year, the award of best oral presentations went to Dr. Zhang Qiuyue and Dr. Yang Milian. The best poster presentation prize winners were Dr. Hu Jianlin, Peng Chuan, and Supparat Tongkok.

At the closing ceremony, Prof. Yang Yongping encouraged XTBG researchers to contribute more to regeonal development.

Prof. Zhang Jiaolion, deputy director of XTBG, chaired the closing ceremony.
