The Annual Meeting 2020 of the Ecological Society of Yunnan and its fifth youth science forum was held in Anning, Kunming on November 27-29. With the theme of “Wildlife conservation and ecological safety”, the meeting brought together over 200 representatives from research institutions, universities, and nature reserve agencies.
“Ecological science has been playing an important supporting role in the development of Chinese new era and expanding its social influence,” said Prof. Cao Min, chairman of Ecological Society of Yunnan, at the opening ceremony. He encouraged the participants to play leading and supporting role in promoting biodiversity conservation, by taking the opportunity of COP 15 held in Kunming in 2021.
Prof. Yang Yongping, deputy director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), expressed congratulations to the meeting. He said that XTBG will offer continuous support for the development of the ecological society.
The meeting discussed front topics concerning ecological science through three plenary presentations by Prof. Yang Yongping, Prof. He Daming, and Prof. Li Chengyun respectively, 27 academic presentations, 9 popular science presentations, and 49 presentations made by postgraduate students.
Some students and early-career researchers were awarded for outstanding presentations or excellent papers.
