Researchers from Macroevolution Group of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) conducted field survey of fern biodiversity in west Yunnan from May 27 to June 9. They collected 389 specimens belonging to 87 genera and 27 families. 78 fern plants were introduced to XTBG.

The field survey was aimed to expand the knowledge about pteridophyte flora of Yunnan and better understanding of species distribution in Yunnan and Northern Myanmar.

The field survey was mainly carried out at Tongbiguan National Nature Reserve bordered to Myanmar, and other regions like Ruili, Longchaun, YIngjiang, and Pianman within Dehong Prefecture.

The field work was financially supported by the “135” project of XTBG.
