The 2nd International Workshop on Response and Adaptation of Terrestrial Ecosystem Carbon, Nitrogen and Water Cycles to Climate Change was held at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) from May 14-17. The meeting brought together 150 experts and scholars from China, UK, Norwegian, Japan, India, Thailand, Myanmar, and other regions.
The participants gathered together to exchange most recent cutting-edge studies and ideas on the functions and responses of terrestrial ecosystems to climate change.
Prof. Chen JIn, director of XTBG, delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony on May 15.
The meeting included 8 keynote speeches, 32 oral presentations, and 26 posters. The keynote speakers were Prof. Jan Mulde, Prof. Amnat Chidthaisong, Prof. Liang Naishen, Prof. Lin Guanghui, and others.
All the presentations were about the themes of “functions and key processes of carbon, nitrogen and water cycles in terrestrial ecosystems”, “new techniques and methodologies application in carbon, nitrogen and water cycles in terrestrial ecosystems”, or “the response, adaptation and feedback of carbon, nitrogen and water cycles of terrestrial ecosystems to climate change”.
The participants also visited XTBG research facilities like flux towers, monitoring systems, central laboratory, Xishuangbanna field station, etc.
The meeting provided a platform for participants to socialize and network with new acquaintances, and build upon those relationships which have already been established to sustain their collaboration.
