The 2018 Annual Conference on Chinese Botanic Gardens was held in Wuhan on November 6-8, with attendance of over 380 representatives from home and abroad. The theme of the meeting is “New epoch, new mission, and new conduct”. The opening ceremony witnessed the awarding of “Lifetime Achievement Award of Chinese Botanical Gardens" to nine senior researchers and horticulturists. Prof. Zou Shouqing, Mr.Tao Guoda of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), and other senior scientists like Prof. Zhang Zuoshuang and Prof. Zheng Zhong are award winners. This year, Fairylake Botanic Garden of Shenzhen received the Best Chinese Botanic Garden 2018—“Fenghuai Award”. XTBG is the first Chinese botanical garden who was awarded the honor in 2016. Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, headed up Prof. Zhu Hua and other researcher to attend the annual meeting. The four themes of the conference are “technology and practice of plant conservation”, “environmental education and eco-tourism”, “landscape design and construction of botanical gardens”, “new mission of botanical gardens in the new epoch”. Seven keynote plenary speeches and 54 presentations shared recent progress and experience in scientific research, public education, gardening and horticulture.
