The plate awarding ceremony was attended by director general Li Jinzao of China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and secretary general Deng Maicun of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
On behalf of XTBG, Prof. Hu Huabin received the plate.
The first batch of China’s Top 10 Science & Technology Tourism Base was announced on March 28, with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Three Gorges Dam on Yangtze River and Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center all on the list.
In 2016, the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) reportedly began consulting on the project in preparation to push it forward. To further cultivate science-themed tourism in the future, CNTA and CAS will highlight science and technology-themed tourism resources and build high-quality science tourism products.
