Dr.Chipper Wichman, president and chief executive officer of National Tropical Botanical Garden (NYBG) of USA, headed up an 11-person delegation to Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) on April 25. Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG. Met with the delegation. The two sides held a discussion meeting.
The two sides briefed overview of its history, mission, species preservation, and scientific research respectively. Afterwards, they had a deep discussion on regional influence, scientific strength, fund resources and allocation of botanical gardens.
The NYBG guests were shown around living collections, tropical rain forest ethnic culture museum, green stone forest, and the central laboratory. They gave high comments on the rich biodiversity and beautiful landscape of XTBG. They also acknowledged the achievement  in scientific research and species conservation,  and the leading role of XTBG played in regional biodiversity conservation.
