The year of 2015 witnessed robust development of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG). In the year, XTBG was reshuffled with new leadership and played key role in the project of “CAS -Southeast Asia Biodiversity Research Institute.It made progress in research project funds, research achievements, international cooperation, academic exchanges, plant resource utilization, science popularization, tourism management, landscape optimization, etc.
  In 2015, XTBG warmly welcomed Britain's Duke of Cambridge, Prince William. He planted a tree Om March 4 for memory near the memorial tree planted in 1986 by his grandfather, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. It successfully hosted the Annual Academic Meeting 2015 of Chinese Botanic Gardens , which won applause from over 400 participants.
  2015 was the final year of implementing “one orientation, three key breakthroughs, five key research directions” project (1-3-5 project for short). Remarkable achievements have been accomplished. The “Full-cover conservation plan of native plant species in China” project attracted media attention and was covered by China Central Television (CCTV).
   In 2015, XTBG received RMB 49.52 million in research funds from 70 new projects, got 204 research articles published in internationally peer-reviewed scientific journals.
