22nd session of conference on Chinese Ecosystem Research Network held in Tibet

The 22nd session of conference on the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) was held in Lhasa, Tiebt on August 3-4. Director Chen Yiyu of CERN Scientific Commission, some CAS members concerning CERN, officials, as well as delegates from fellow field stations attended the meeting. The conference was attended by over 200 scientists, including Prof. Zhang Yiping and Prof. Deng Xiaobao of XTBG.

The meeting summed up work progress of CERN in 2014, and discussed problems in the network. The 13th five-year planning and evaluation of performance of field stations over 201-2015 were most significant work for the next step.

10 young scientists were honored with “Excellent Paper Award for Young Scientists”. Dr. Chen Yajun of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) was one of the 10 excellent paper award winners, with his paper entitled Water-use advantage for lianas over trees in tropical seasonal forests”. CAS academician Chen Yiyu conferred the award.

   Since the inauguration of the “Excellent Paper Award for Young Scientists” in 2011, three young scientists (Fan Zexin, Qiao Na, Chen Yajun) of XTBG were among the award winners.
