“Biodiversity for sustainable development” is the theme of International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) of 2015, which falls on May 22. To celebrate this day, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) organized popular science activities to raise awareness of reducing the rate of biodiversity loss, to experience charm of diverse plants. Visitors, primary and middle schools students were led to finding charm of diverse plants by volunteers and tour guides. King lotus, some bizarre flowers, dancing grass, miracle fruit, etc. all attracted their eyes. With XTBG map of rare and endangered plants at hand, the visitors and students experienced charm of different plants. Always bearing biodiversity conservation and science popularization in mind, XTBG celebrate IDB every year. Over the past years, XTBG directors and professors are tour guides on this day.
