The Strategic Union for Technology Innovation of Biodiesel Fuel Industry was established in Beijing on April 22. “The union is aimed to make breakthrough in the key issues of biodiesel fuel industry, to transfer research into industry”, according to Mr. Lv Bo, chairman of the union. Prof. Hu Huabin, deputy director of XTBG, was elected as vice chairman of the union.

The union is to take advantage of the mode of industry-academy cooperation, so as to boost the development of biofuel industry in China. It is to improve the technical level of biofuel plant, improve the ability of aspects including laboratory research, engineering development and industrialization experiment for biofuel technology and equipment in our country.

According to Lv Bo, by converting biomass – plant matter such as trees, grasses, agricultural residue, and other biological material to fuels, chemicals, and materials, will reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil, improve our air quality, and support rural economies.
