In the year of 2014, Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) got big development. It made progress in research project funds, research achievements, academic exchanges, international cooperation, platform construction, species conservation, sustainable plant resources, science popularization, tourism, talent training, and XTBG-locality cooperation.

In 2014, XTBG received RMB 52.82 million in research funds from 75 new projects, got 208 research articles published in internationally peer-reviewed scientific journals. The revenue of admission fees from visitors increased, more popular science activities were organized, more diverse students got involved in summer and winter science camps. A total of 1,539 species were successfully introduced in 2014, an increase of 40% over the previous year.

Since its launch in 2013, the Chinese Union of Botanic Gardens (CUBG) took an active and positive role in promoting cooperation among Chinese botanical gardens. The “Full-Coverage Protection Plan of Native Plants (Pilot)” project was initiated by XTBG.

XTBG hosted some international symposium. Its scientists participated a lot of international academic conferences. Cooperation among national and international colleagues was broadened.
