Prof. Zhang Yiping of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) is approved to enjoy the 2014 State Council Special Allowance. The news is according to the latest list of special government allowance recipients from the State Council was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China. Prof. Zhang received 20,000 Yuan tax-free allowance from the central government.

   Prof. Zhang Yiping is now leader of Global Change Research Group and director of Ailaoshan Forest Ecosystem Research Station. He has been engaged in studies of climate change, carbon cycling of forest ecosystems, forest meteorology, etc for many years. Prof. Zhang got his studies published in many international peer-reviewed journals. He has supervised a batch of young researchers, made outstanding achievements in both scientific research and talent training. 

The special government allowance from the State Council is a system to reward high level professional and technical talents and highly skilled personnel. It is a major measure to show the care and concern of the government to high level professional and technical talents and highly skilled personnel, and to strengthen the construction of the team of high level and high skilled talents.

So far, 26 professors of XTBG have won the special government allowance from the State Council.
