Scheme of CAS Center for Education and Research in SEA Countries passes expert review

An expert meeting for the feasibility study of CAS Center for Education and Research in Southeast Asian Countries was held in Kunming on January 19. Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, reported the development scheme to the expert panel. After going through the whole process of oral presentation, defense and discussion, the development scheme was regarded as feasible and passed expert review.

     In his report, Prof. Chen Jin said that “CAS Center for Education and Research in Southeast Asian Countries” is an action responding to the "One Belt and One Road" initiative of China, and within the framework of the “Pioneer Action Plan” of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. For the project, CAS is going to firstly cooperate with Myanmar in biodiversity science, traditional medicine and ethnobotany, sustainable utilization of biological resources, ecosystem studies and climate change.

   Prof. Cao Min, deputy dorector of XTBG, reported progress in the preparation work of CAS Center for Education and Research in Southeast Asian Countries. Four professors planning to conduct studies in Myanmar also reported their work plan.

   CAS vice president Zhang Yaping was present at the meeting. He urged all concerning institutes to further make their objective clear and make concerted efforts to smoothly promote the project.
