XTBG scientists sit on Expert Committee of Wetland Conservation of Yunnan Province

The provincial government has recently set up an Expert Committee of Wetland Conservation of Yunnan Province. The purpose is to form consultation mechanism of scientific decision making on wetlands conservation of Yunnan province. The committee is composed of 27 research professors and scholars from universities and institutes. Prof. Cao Min and Prof. Liu Wenyao of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) are among the list.

The responsibilities of the expert committee are to provide suggestions on decision making; to provide consultation for wetland protection and management which include designation of key protected area, formulation of name list of wetland plants and animals, assessment and utilization of wetland resources, and provide technical support and consultation for ecological compensation and ecological restoration of wetlands; to provide technical training for staff of wetland management; etc.
