A group of scientists recently completed a field investigation on plants, fishes, and animals in the northern parts of Myanmar, scoring encouraging achievements.

   This is the first research trip for the preparations of CAS Biodiversity Research Center in Myanmar, supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

   Headed by Prof. Quan Ruichang with Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), this trip involved 11 researchers from XTBG, Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB), Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ), and Forest Research Institute of Myanmar.

   With assistance from Hkakaborazi National Park and Forest Research Institute of Myanmar, the team collected a large amount of scientific data and photos on plants, fishes, and animals in the northern parts of Myanmar.

  The field survey was tough, with no electricity, no transportation tools. Rugged mountains, dangerous and difficult paths, and flying mosquitoes made the journey a torment for the biologists.
