Since its official launch, the Chinese Union of Botanical Gardens (CUBG) promotes its work steadily. A general development planning is necessary to better fulfill its responsibility, in response to the “Service network plan of strategic biological resources industry” of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
On October 9-10, leaders from 23 CUBG member gardens and some specialists in biological resource studies met together in Kunming to discuss preparations for the development planning of CUBG.
Achievements in biological resource industry service and germplasm conservation were shared by the 23 CUBG member gardens. Development planning of biological resource industry in coming five years was also discussed. The participants discussed construction of living collections, and development of biological resources.
Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG and chairman of CUBG, outlined his points for the development of CUBG, and asked the participants to brainstorm and get a preliminary scheme of common ground. He also deployed the compilation work for the “development planning of CUBG”.
