The CAS Key Laboratory of Tropical Forest Ecology hosted a training course on principle of Maximum Entropy and its applications in ecology during July 1-4. The course was attended by 12 young research fellows of XTBG. Dr. Xing Dingliang from CAS Institute of Applied Ecology was invited as a keynote trainer.

The training course was composed of two parts. Firstly, Dr. Xing Dingliang introduced the application of maximum entropy in macroecology, food-web patterns, and ecological niche models of species distribution, etc. Secondly, by using data from forest census in North America and many forest dynamics plots all over the world, Dr. Xing Dingliang focused on Community Assembly by Trait Selection (CATSand Maximum Entropy Theory of Ecology (METE).
