Green building vision and eco-cultural design of XTBG Research Center introduced in Shanghai

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) was invited to play a part in the French-Chinese Seminar “Green Building-Bâtir Vert” (GBBV-Shanghai 2013) held from 26 to 30 August in Shanghai. The Seminar was organized by the National Grande Ecole of Civil Engineering Works for the French State (ENTPE) in partnership with Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University and Lyon University. Entrusted by XTBG director Dr.Chen Jin, Mr. Alain Hays, chief designer of the new XTBG scientific research center, was present at the Seminar.

     Mr. Alain Hays introduced the green building vision and eco-cultural design of XTBG Scientific Research Center Project to the participants. As a pioneering work and concrete example presented at the GBBV-Shanghai 2013, the project was praised by the organizers and participants as well.     Such topics as “Green Building and Nature: Construction in harmony with the landscape; Landscape and Green Building Design ; Quality and User -Friendliness of the outdoor and indoor spaces ; Bioclimatism” were presented at the Seminar. The GBBV- Shanghai 2013 seminar still managed to encourage a useful exchange from a wide range of participants – professionals, researchers, professors and students - in the spirit of fruitful cooperation for environmental protection and sustainable development.

Eco-Cultural Buildings for Building Eco-Culture : XTBG Scientific Research Center – Bioclimatic green building and user-friendliness of the working spaces which respect and integrate the native tropical rainforest.

XTBG Scientific Research Center – Eco-Cultural Design: Creating a true architectural identity in harmony with omnipresent nature whilst preserving the special atmosphere and place’s historic soul.
