Prof. Wang Changlin, director of the Institute of Industrial and Technological Economics of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), headed up a 13-person group to investigate development of biological industry in Xishuangbanna during February 1-2. On the sidelines, the group came to XTBG to have a general understanding on its research and development on biological industry.
Dr. Hu Huabin, assistant director of XTBG, accompanied them a field tour to the cultivation bases of physic nut tree (Jatropha curcas L.) and Inca peanut. He introduced research progress and product development regarding these two oil plants.
The NDRC professionals also visited Yulin Pharmaceutical Factory which focuses on producing medicines with dracaena plants as major raw materials. Afterwards, they were shown around such living collections as Flower Garden, Palm Garden, and Distinctive Plant Collection.
Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, held a talk with the NDRC experts. They talked about environmental protection and health product development.
