The 1st phase of the project of Xishuangbanna lime mountain rainforest recovery came to an end in early December 2012, which marks that the Green Stone Forest can open to the public.

On December 12, an opening ceremony for the Green Stone Forest scenic spot was held, with officials of local government, leaders and staff members of XTBG present. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Li Qingjun, deputy director of XTBG.

“The opening of the Green Stone Forest to the public is another event for XTBG since its entitlement of National 5A Tourist Attraction. It marks a new progress in public education and species conservation, meanwhile contributes to scientific research” said Dr. Chen Jin in his address. “It is also conducive for making Xishuangbanna a first-class and well-known eco-tourism destination,” added Chen Jin.

After the opening ceremony, the officials and guests were shown around the scenic spot by Dr. Chen Jin and Dr. Li Qingjun.
