The Annual Meeting 2012 of the Ecological Society of Yunnan was held in Honghe College, Mengzi city during October 18 and 21. Over 70 ecologists and students gathered together to discuss “Agricultural plights: breakthroughs of ecological science”.

The opening session on October 19 was presided over by Prof. Ou Xiaokun of Yunnan University. Dr. Chen Jin, chairman of the Ecological Society and director of XTBG, delivered an opening speech.

Afterwards, four keynote speeches on ecological agriculture were delivered by ecologists from South China Agricultural University, Yunnan Agricultural University, Kunming Institute of Botany, and Honghe College.

The participants had deep discussion on ecological agriculture, on its challenges and prospects.

The participating young scholars and students got a chance to present them at the meeting. They show off in a presentation contest. The outstanding participants got awards from the organizers.

“The annual meeting provided a platform for ecologists and scholars to pay attention to the development of ecological agriculture. More ecologists are expected to conduct studies in practice”, said Prof. Cao Min, vice chairman of the ecological society and deputy director of XTBG.
