Since 1993, International Day for Biological Diversity has been observed on May 22 to create awareness about conservation of biodiversity, its sustainable use and fair and equitable sharing of the benefits that come from the utilisation of genetic resources.
Responding to the call of increasing awareness of conserving biodiversity, XTBG offers special guided tours by professors and volunteers on this day since 2009.
On May 22, many professors and volunteers including CPC secretary Li Hongwei and deputy director Li Qingjun guided tourists to understand biodiversity conservation and told stories behind plants.

The rich plant species provide good habitats for insects, birds, and animals. While introducing diverse plants and landscapes, the volunteers recommended such popular science activities as bird watching, butterfly and firefly observing, and sightseeing in the evening, etc. to visitors.
