XTBG biodiversity conservation work talked in Thailand

The third workshop on science, technology and innovation between CAS and Thai Ministry of Science and Technology was held from September 14 to 15 in Bangkok, Thailand. The CAS delegation was headed by Prof. Tan Tieniu, vice secretary general of CAS. Prof. Tan delivered an opening speech.  Representatives from CAS institutes held discussions with Thai participants from various fields.

Prof. Li Qingjun, deputy director of XTBG, attended the meeting. He co-chaired the session on biodiversity studies, together with Dr. Somchai Bussarawit, director of Natural History Museum of Thailand.

 

Dr. Li Qingjun introduced XTBG's work on biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration from the following aspects: species collection and conservation, restoration and reconstruction of degraded ecosystems, in situ conservation and reintroduction of rare and endangered plant species, regional biodiversity conservation, promoting biodiversity conservation in neighboring countries.

 

 

He also talked with Thai scientists for cooperation potentials in biodiversity studies.
