Plukenetia volubilis certified improved variety

The introduction and cultivation of Inca Peanut(Plukenetia volubilis) has been made successful in XTBG for many years. Plukenetia volubilis has been recently certified as improved variety by the Seed Certification Authority of Yunnan Province.

The seed of Inca peanut was introduced to XTBG in 2006. Through experiments of reproduction, adaptability, and plantation, the cultivation of Plukenetia volubilis proved to be successful.

The Seed Certification Authority of Yunnan Province has undergone seed inspection and conducted different seed tests such as germination test, varietal purity, seed health test, moisture tests, etc. as required.

Meeting standards of examination and approval of improved varieties of forest tree in Yunnan province, Plukenetia volubilis was certified as improved variety.

Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia volubilis) is an amazing little fruit native to the (Peruvian) Amazon Rainforest. Also known as Inca Peanut, the oil derived from the seeds offer incredible health benefits. It has the ability to fight heart disease, relieve arthritis pain, stabilize blood glucose levels and improve mood.

Scientific name: Plukenetia volubilis

Number: R-ETS—PV—053-2010 (Yunnan)

Period of certificate validity:  5 years

Areas of adaptation: Tropical areas of Xishuangbanna, at an elevation of 500-1500 meters, annual mean temperature over 20°C, annual mean rainfall over 1200mm, lateritic soils.
