Mr. Xu Shaoshi, Minister of Land and Resources and the State land chief inspector, paid a visit to XTBG on May 15. The visit was accompanied by the CPC Secretary Bai Enpei of Yunnan province, vice minister Wang Min of Land and Resources, and chief officials of Xishuangbanna local government.

Dr. Chen Jin andMr. Li Hongwei showed the officials to the Flower Garden, Palm Collection, and tropical rainforest within XTBG.

During the tour within the garden, Dr. Chen Jin introduced the interesting means of pollination of apple fig (Ficus oligodon), economic significance of Inca peanut (Plukenetia volubilisL.), and scientific research on Tacca and some legend about it.

The officials regarded XTBG's efforts to popularize knowledge meaningful.

The guests were impressed by both the beautifical tropical landscape and campus construction of XTBG.
