The1st World Congress of Bioenergy was held during April 25-30 in Dalian, China. The theme of the congress was “Developing Bio-renewable Energy from Nature”.

 The conference brought together industry leaders, professors, policy makers, investors and researchers to provide unique insights into evolving governmental policies, breakthrough technologies and investment strategies in this growing field.

Prof. Dr. FANG Zhen and his Biomass Group of XTBG attended the meeting.

XTBG participants were concerned with breaking research and advanced biofuel technologies. Four of them made presentations at the meeting.

Dr. FANG Zhen talked about pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass for hydrolysis. He was also co-chair of the sub-theme “Ligno Cellulosic Biomass”

Assistant Professor Guo Feng presented “Selection of high-oil-yield seed sources of Jatropha curcas L. for biodiesel production”.  Dr. Tian Xiaofei presented “fast enzymatic hydrolysis of celluloses pretreated with ionic liquids under microwave irradiation”.  Dr.Long Yunduo's presentation was entitled “Coproduction of biodiesel and lactic acid from rapeseed oil using sodium silicate”.
