3rd National Symposium on Plant Reproductive Ecology held at XTBG

The Third National Symposium on Plant Reproductive Ecology was held at the headquarters of XTBG, Menglun, Xishuangbanna during March 27-29. The Symposium was co-sponsored by XTBG and CAS Institute of Botany. Afterwards, a “Plant-animal interrelationship” workshop was from March 30 to April 2.

The conference brought together 90 scientists and students from 30 research institutions and universities nationwide.

Prof. Dr. Li Qingjun, deputy director of XTBG, delivered a warm welcome speech.

Prof. Zhang Dayong from Beijing Normal University reviewed plant reproductive ecology studies in China over the past years.

The invited speakers were a group of scientists who have engaged in studies on plant reproductive ecology and specifically plant-pollinator interactions.

Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, made a report on research advances in the seed burial behavior of rodents.

The symposium were divided into five sections, themed with “floral structure and pollination”, “orchids and their polliantion”, “alpine plants and their reproduction”, “reproduction, evolution and adaption”, and “breeding and mating systems” respectively. Altogether, 38 lectures were delivered.

 After the closing of the symposium on plant reproductive ecology, a work shop on palnt-animal interrelationship was held.

Prof. Amots Dafni from University of Haifa and Dr. Nicolas J. Vereecken from University of Brussels were invited as instructors.
