Word comes that XTBG was awarded the honor of Advanced Collective for Science Popularization by Yunnan province.

XTBG has been a national popular science education base for many years. Over the past years, XTBG organized colorful popular science activities of conserving biodiversity and spreading knowledge of plants, with the backing of its own popular science facilities.

Many researchers and students of XTBG also attach importance to popularizing knowledge of protecting ecological environment. They volunteer to be tour guides on special occassions, such as International Biodiversity Day, National Day Holiday, etc.

A 70-people team of tour guides spread plant knowledge every day. Most of them are local ethnic minorities. After professional training, they act as ‘ambassadresses’ of the Garden, while delivering scientific messages to visitors. They can also learn from their day-to-day experiences and bring this knowledge back to their villages.

XTBG has also set up website for popular science and released an emagazine named Rainforest Stories to popularize knowledge of plants and tropical rainforest.

Prof. Chen Jin was honored “Advanced Individual of National Popular Science”. Prof. Yang Darong and Mr. Zhu Hongxiang was awarded “Advanced Worker of Yunnan Science Popularization”.
