Academician Rao Zihe, president of the prestigious Nankai University, paid a visit to XTBG from August 4-6, accompanied by Prof. Kang Le, director-general of the CAS Bureau of Life Sciences and Biotechnology.

  Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, gave a warm reception and showed the academician around the Garden. Academician Rao showed much interest in advances in scientific research, species preservation, and garden construction. Giving positive comments on the achievements made by XTBG, Prof. Rao said that cooperation potentiality existed between the two sides. Further cooperation would be carried out in the near future.

  Academician Rao Zihe, a molecular biophysicist and structural biologist, became the 7^th president of the Nankai University, a key multidisciplinary university directly under the Ministry of Education, in 2006.
