Mr. Wu Xiaoqing, deputy director of the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA), paid an inspection tour to XTBG on February 24. Dr. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, warmly welcomed him and introduced the development of XTBG since the acceptance check of the “Ten-thousand-Plant-Species Project”.
After listening to report on XTBG general planning and field tour to the second-phase construction of tourism, deputy director Wu thought well of the development prospect of XTBG. “The second-phase construction of tourism is to advance the all-round development of XTBG, to bring scientific research, species preservation, and science popularization into harmonious development, meanwhile to play a leading role in the sustainable development of tourism industry in Yunnan province” , said Wu Xiaoqing. He also suggested that XTBG enlarge investment into tourism management.
Wu Xiaoqing is concerned with the development of XTBG for a long period of time. As the then deputy governor of Yunnan Province during 2003 and 2005, he was in charge of coordinating the implementation of the “Ten-thousand-Plant-Species Project” jointly sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Yunnan Provincial Government. He has ever paid a few inspection tours to the Garden.
