On November 23, a 4-person expert panel from China Petroleum and Petrochemical Engineering Institute (CPPEI) and British Petroleum Company (BP) came to XTBG to see about the research work on biological energy, with special reference to Jatropha curcas.
At the meeting with the visiting experts, Prof. Hu Huabin briefed the research progress on Jatropha curcas at XTBG. The experts made a field tour to the cultivation base and germplasm nursery of Jatropha curcas and then looked around the Garden.
PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina) has recently signed cooperation agreements on the research and development of biological energy with Sichuan Province and Yunnan Province and will invest in the selection of breeding sources and demonstration of high-yield cultivation techniques of Jatropha curcas. Xishuangbanna has been placed as one of the four key pilot projects by Yunnan Provincial Department of Forestry, with XTBG providing Science & Technology support.
The visiting experts spoke highly of our work and would closely concern the advances in the studies on Jatropha curcas.
