The opening ceremony for the unveiling of the Tea Culture Museum of Six Ancient Tea Mountains was held on October 30 at Yiwu Township. Dr. Chen Jin and Prof. Xu Zai attended the ceremony on invitation.

On behalf of Director Chen Jin, Prof. Xu Zaifu delivered a speech at the ceremony. “Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) has provided continuous science & technology support to the poverty alleviation of Mengla County. With collaborative efforts put by different departments of the local government, the Museum ultimately came into being and unveiled”, said Prof. Xu, former director of XTBG. He was confident that the foundation of the museum will contribute a lot to spread the culture of the six ancient mountains for Pu’er tea, to conserve wild tea resources. It will also enhance the cultural content of the ancient township of Yiwu.

Distinguished guests like XTBG director Chen Jin, vice director Wang Pei of Xishuangbanna Publicity Office, Chairman Li Shicheng of Yunnan Association of Ethnic Tea Culture, deputy vice CPC secretary Ma Ming of Mengla County cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony. Students from the local school sang a song about tea picking , called “Source of Pu’er Tea-Horse Ancient Road”.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, all the guests looked around the new museum.
