A panel of 6 experts was sent by the National Office of Clean Energy Action to investigate and study the general situation of green energy development in Xishuangbanna on October 18.

While staying in Jinghong, the expert panel held talks with heads of different related departments of the locality and XTBG. Dr. Zheng Xiaoguang, assistant Magistrate of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, introduced the development of green energy in Xiahuangbanna. They also had exchanges on the research and development of Jatropha curcas.

 The expert panel paid a field tour to the cultivation base of Jatropha curcas within the XTBG, and talked with scientific personnel concerned.

The visit is in line with the schedule of the program “green energy poverty reduction in regions inhabited by minority ethnic groups” jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which was officially launched in May 2006. The Program focuses on the exploration and demonstration of Jatropha curcas from four aspects in Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan.
