XTBG authorized to confer Ph.D degree in Botany

According to a review by the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (GUCAS), XTBG has been authorized to confer Ph.D degree in Botany. XTBG will start to recruit doctoral candidates in plant science from the year of 2007 on. So far, XTBG has been authorized to confer Ph.D degrees in both Ecology and Botany.

 Since 2000, XTBG has been recruiting M.Sc. students in Botany, and good results have been achieved.

 

XTBG studies in botany focus on plant physiology, taxonomy, and genetic variation of tropical plants by fully considering the geographical and climatic factors. XTBG also contributes to the introduction and domestication of tropical plants, forest ecosystem, biodiversity conservation, exploration of plant resources and sustainable development. Floral geography, plant systematics, conservation biology, ethnic botany, and ethnic medicine have become the main research fields of the Garden in plant science.
