On November 27, Ms. Zhang Meiying, vice chairwoman of the 10^th National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), came to inspect XTBG in the company of Mr. Guan Guozhong, vice chairman of the CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee, and other related officials of Xishuangbanna local government.

Mr. Li Hongwei, deputy director of XTBG, accompanied them a tour within the Garden. Li made a brief introduction of the general situation, achievements made in scientific research, species preservation, and public science education made in the past five years to the vice chairwoman. Ms. Zhang Meiying showed interest in XTBG’s development. After a visit to the Tropical Rainforest Ethnic Culture Museum, she was pleased to inscript for the Garden.

   Looking around some elite parts like the medicinal garden, palm collections, and the ex situ conservation area for rare and endangered plants,etc. Ms. Zhang Meiying spoke highly of XTBG on its planning, gardening, living plant collections, and public science education.
