On October 4, Mr. Liu Ping, deputy governor of Yunnan province, inspected XTBG in the accompany of Ms. Dao Linyin, vice sheriff of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, and other relevant leaders. Deputy governor Liu’s inspection focused on the tourism work of XTBG.
Prof. Chen Jin, director of XTBG, and deputy director Mr.Li Hongwei, accompanied them a tour within the garden.
During the deputy governor’s inspection, Prof. Chen Jin reported the general situation, advances in scientific research, germplasm preservation and tourism of the Garden in the past five years. Director Chen’s report focused on the development prospect of XTBG, i.e. to be a leading botanical garden in Asia by 2005, a leading tropical botanical garden in the world by 2010, and a leading botanical garden in the world by 2020.
On the report meeting, Ms. Dao Linyin presented the tourism work of the whole prefecture. She also put forward useful suggestions for XTBG.
Deputy governor Liu affirmed the leading role of XTBG in tourism. He suggested that XTBG accelerate the planning and construction of scenic areas so as to make the Garden more attractive and impressive.
