Prof. Yang Yongping heads delegation to Singapore and Malaysia

Prof. Yang Yongping, director of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), headed up a 9-person delegation to Singapore and Malaysia during May 8-14. The delegation visited Singapore Zoo, Singapore Botanic Garden, University of Nottingham Malaysia, Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, Rimba Ilmu Botanical Garden, and other related institutions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between XTBG and University of Nottingham Malaysia. 

When meeting with representatives of related institutions, Prof. Yang Yongping introduced work in scientific research, species conservation, public education and international cooperation. They also had deep discussion on biodversity conservation and research, talent cultivation and training, etc. 

On May 10, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between XTBG and University of Nottingham Malaysia. As representatives of the two sides, Prof. Yang Yongping and Prof. Christopher Gibbins signed the MoU. According to the MoU, the two sides will cooperate in promoting postgraduate education programs, research, training, , and academic exchanges, etc.

Rimba Ilmu Botanical Garden is a tropical botanical garden, set up in the University of Malaya campus in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It emphasises the flora of the Malaysian and Indonesian region. Together with the living collections of over 1,600 species, the Rimba Ilmu also houses the University of Malaya herbarium (acronym KLU) and has its own Environmental Education Programme.
